OVERVIEW: The Model YAF is a lightweight yet durable aluminum bronze Y-strainer designed for moderate-pressure applications where better corrosion resistance than other bronze alloys are key. Commonly used in marine, irrigation, fire protection, and temporary service setups, it is available in sizes from 2″ through 12″ with ANSI Class 150 flat-face flanges. The cast aluminum body offers excellent corrosion resistance in non-acidic water systems and weighs significantly less than comparable iron or steel units, simplifying installation and handling. The large straining cavity allows for higher debris capacity and reduced pressure drop. Standard screens are constructed from 304 stainless steel perforated sheet, with optional fine mesh inserts available. A gasketed, bolted cover allows for easy removal and cleaning, and a blow-off port is provided for inline purging. The YAF is ideal for mobile or outdoor service where rust resistance and weight savings are desirable.
