Butterfly Valves

OVERVIEW:  Butterfly valves are quarter-turn valves that use a circular disc to rotate through 90º to control flow. The disc remains in the fluid path when open, but there is relatively little pressure drop. An elastomer lining seat is used to obtain tight closure in all but the High Performance Butterfly Valves (HPBVs), which have a longer lasting seal and have other advantages that lead to long life.

These valves can be used to throttle flow, with the best sensitive results when open between about 15º and 70º. They are controlled with either a muliple-position handle, a gear operator, or an actuator. Electric and pneumatic actuators for all our butterfly valves are provided by Stayflow.

The common body types are lug style and wafer style, and flanged ends are used in some designs.

                                                                                       Butterfly Valve Choices

  • The Baseline Series are quality elastomer lined iron lug or wafer body butterfly valves. The Baseline IW wafer body design is compact, and mates to 150# flanges, and the lug body design allows for dead end service. Options include EPDM and Buna-N seats, along with Bronze, Nickel Plated DI, or 316 stainless steel discs. 2" to 48" diameters.

  • The grooved end Baseline Series are quality elastomer lined iron butterfly valves with quick connect grooved ends. Options include EPDM and Buna-N seats, along with Ductile Iron + EPDM or Buna-N discs. 2" to 12" diameters.

  • The Baseline Plus Series elastomer lined butterfly valves have stainless steel or other corrosion resistant bodies, making it suitable for service where an iron body is inappropriate. All valves have four drilled and tapped lugs for lighter weight and lower cost than full lug bodies, but still allowing dead end service. Standard bodies are corrosion resistant stainless steel but are also available in Duplex, Alloy 20, aluminum, and carbon steel. 2" to 12" standard diameters.

  • The HP Series High Performance Butterfly Valves eliminates seat wear and seat leakage. It uses a double off-set eccentric disc with a seat ring, and other features for a superior valve. Lug bodies and wafer bodies are both available. Steam, fire-safe, and metal seats available. Comes with carbon steel or stainless steel  bodies, and pressure classes of 150# and 300# that are kept in stock, with 600# and 900# also available. 2" to 24" diameters stocked, with up to 120" available.

  • The high quality flanged performance AWWA C504 butterfly valves are available in 150# class or 300# class. They feature a double offset eccentric disc and self-sealing seat, which makes the torque very low, and a high number of open-closes. This fully vetted design make this flanged valve a top choice for demanding applications where trouble free services is wanted, especially for water treatment and distribution. 3" to 72" sizes.

  • The Cryo Series cryogenic High Performance Butterfly Valves are designed with 100% compliance with API 609 and ASME B16.34. Superior reliability with superior features are the hallmarks of these valves. In wafer, lug, and flanged designs. -320F to 250F. 2" to 36" diameters.

  • Stayflow Tefline-M Series PTFE Lined Metal Butterfly Valves are custom manufactured. This advanced technology PTFE Lined epoxy coated metal body valve is specially designed for applications requiring high purity and maximum chemical resistance. Available in both Wafer and Lug styles. 2" to 12" diameters stocked, special to 24".

  • Stayflow Y Series Polypropylene High Performance Butterfly Valve is ideally suited for use in applications requiring Polypropylene’s broad range of chemical resistance. 1-1/2" to 24" standard diameters, with custom produced 30"to 60" valves available.

  • The Stayflow Butterfly Valve design in PVC or CPVC provide exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance and improves on traditional liner-seat type valve. This high-performance valve is offered with a full variety of options for greater application versatility in industrial and chemical processing applications. Standard and Factory Installed Lug Insert Designs available. NSF Certified. 1-1/2" to 16" diameters.

  • The Stayflow Butterfly Valve Wafer design in PVC or CPVC provide exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance. The wafer style mounts between two 150# flanges, and have laying lengths will directly replace common Cast Iron valves.  All PVC and CPVC valves have built-in Santoprene™ Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Flange Gaskets. 2" to 12" diameters.

  • Premium pneumatic actuator is an Air-to-Air (Double Acting; optional Spring Return) featuring twin piston rack and pinion operation. This prepackaged combination is directly mounted to our PVC or CPVC Butterfly Valve body, 1/2" to 24", with flanged ends.

  • The Premium Electric Actuated Butterfly Valve provides high quality, full-featured, electrical actuation for fully customizable service. This prepackaged combination is directly mounted to our PVC or CPVC Butterfly Valve body, 1/2" to 24", with flanged ends.

  • Stayflow Pool Series Butterfly Valves feature a PVC Distinct White Body with Blue Handle readily that identifies this high quality valve specifically designed for chlorinated water applications such as swimming pools. The fully isolated, non-wetted stainless steel stem with limited-contact EPDM seat provides maximum resistance to chlorinated water with superior ease of operation. 1-1/2" to 12" diameters.
